Eula Gauthier grew up in Pointe Coupee Parish. She and her family moved to Alexandria, Louisiana when Eula was a young girl. After marriage, she often helped her husband out in the shoe shop. So, she essentially had two jobs. Eula loved flowers and had a green thumb. Whatever she planted flourished, be they vegetables or flowers. Some of her favorite vegetables for planting or eating were okra, crowley peas, tomatoes and corn. In her later years, she worked in her flower garden from sunrise to sunset. Her passion for flowers was recognized by her neighbors. Eula died in 1995 and is buried in Alexandria Memorial Gardens.
