4. Lester BOUDREAUX

Served in WW II from June 11, 1943 to November 13, 1945, as a combat infantryman. According to records, he was discharged as a Private First Class.

Picture shows him as a Staff Sergant. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Occupation Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal with three Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal and Army Combat infantry badge.

He was assigned to 5th Platoon,Company C, 394th Infantry Regiment, attached to an armored unit and was honored with the Belgian Fouragere and the Distinctive Unit Citation. This was the first integrated unit in the US Army.

Steve Martel (nephew) recounts seeing a Silver Star and the Citation at Grandma Eva during the early 50's.


5. Ida TYLER

Ida (La Grande Ida) Tyler was born in Arnaudville, LA. Her father was Rene Pierre Tyler and her mother was Marie Joachime (Josephine) Remy. Ida was the youngest child in a family of eleven children. The family farmed the land and raised crops such as cotton, corn and yams. She was a great cook who once cooked for Tony Cachere, a Cajun food and spices entrepreneur. She received a note of appreciation from a former First Lady of Louisiana , Elaine Edwards, for her wonderful praline candy. Ida was able to enjoy three grandchildren. She was well known and respected in her community. A large number of nieces and nephews influenced many friends to address her as "Aunt Ida". On her gravestone are engraved the words "Gentle Woman", which truly reflected her character.

Also married Irvin Jean Louis in 1944.

6. Quarance (Querens) PATIN Sr

The name of the place, Chenal, where Quarance was born was later changed to Rougon. Quarance was a Cobbler by trade and owned a shoe repair shop in Alexandria, LA. He was active in the Catholic Church and in the Knights of St. Peter Claver.

Quarance is listed as Querens in the 1880 Census.


7. Eula GAUTHIER

Chenal has been changed to Rougon.
