| The Patins can trace their ancestry in Louisiana to the early 1700s. Quarance was born in Pointe Coupee Parish, LA. His father's name was benoit and his mother was named Marguerite Honore. Quarance had five brothers and two sisters. Quarance moved to Alexandria, LA and married Eula Gauthier. He and Eula had two daughters and one son. Quarance attended school to learn his trade as a cobbler. He was a good one and built his business in Alexandria. Business was particularly good during World War II. Soldiers from bases in the areas would come to his shop to repair their shoes. Quarance was active with the Knights of Saint Peter Claver and enjoyed attending their conventions. He also enjoyed jazz from the forties era. |
